Liposuction in Atlanta, GA
What is Liposuction?Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes excess fat, yet it is less invasive than other types of body sculpting procedures. It does not help with sagging skin. If you have loose skin and excess fat, liposuction may be performed in conjunction with other types of cosmetic surgery. Liposuction (also called “lipo”) can be performed on the most common problem areas, such as:

What Should I Expect from My Liposuction Procedure?Lipo is an outpatient surgical procedure that helps patients gain more confidence while removing stubborn and unwanted fat. It is more predictable and consistent than noninvasive treatments. Liposuction slims and reshapes parts of the body while removing excess fat deposits. It is performed through small incisions and is essentially a cannula (a hollow tube) inserted into the areas with excess fat with a back and forth motion. The fat loosens and is then suctioned out of the patient’s body. After the surgery, a compression garment or bandage covers the treatment areas to control swelling and keep the shape of the new body contour. Depending on the treated areas’ size and number, patients can generally return to work in a few days and to their normal routines within one month to a month and a half.
How Long Do the Results Last? The results of a liposuction are considered permanent, but fat may develop in the treated area if you change your lifestyle or become less active. After a liposuction, even in the larger areas, almost no traces of surgery remain. If you follow the recommendations of the surgeon, liposuction gives a stable and long-lasting result. Liposuction can be performed as a standalone procedure or in combination with other aesthetic procedures, for example, together with a mastopexy (breast reduction) or abdominoplasty (tummy tuck). In addition, liposuction can be performed in several problem areas at the same time. The duration of the surgery is from 1 to 3 hours depending on the number of treated zones and the amount of fat removed. If you want to address several zones at once, the surgery will take longer. Modern lipo techniques allow for a greater level of precision and patient satisfaction. Today, lots of patients are interested in fat transfer, which requires a liposuction (such as breast augmentation fat transfer that improves the size and shape of breasts using the patient’s own fat, without implants). The minimally invasive (Vaser) liposuction is a great option for the patients interested in fat transfer because it liquefies fat cells more efficiently than laser, which allows us to remove more fat cells compared to laser liposuction, and it has a number of other advantages.
