What is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes excess fat, yet it is less invasive than other types of body sculpting procedures. It does not help with sagging skin.
If you have loose skin and excess fat, liposuction may be performed in conjunction with other types of surgery. Lipo can be used on the most common problems areas, such as:
- Hips and thighs
- Abdomen and waist
- Upper arms
- Upper and Lower Back
- Inner knee
- Chest area
- Cheeks, chin, and neck
What Should I Expect from My Liposuction Procedure?
Lipo is an outpatient procedure that helps patients gain more confidence while removing stubborn and unwanted fatty tissue.
More predictable and consistent than noninvasive treatments, liposuction slims and reshapes parts of the body while removing excess fat deposits. Performed through small incisions, a cannula – or hollow tube – is inserted to loosen fat through a back and forth motion.
Anything dislodged is then suctioned out of the patient’s body. After surgery, a compression garment or bandage may cover treatment areas to control swelling and keep the shape of the new body contour.
Depending on the treated areas, patients can generally return to work in a few days and to their normal routines with one month to a month and a half.
How Long Do the Results Last?
The results of liposuction are considered permanent, but fat may develop in the area if you change your lifestyle and become less active.
After liposuction, even in large areas, almost no traces of surgery remain.
If you follow the recommendations of the surgeon, liposuction gives a stable and long-lasting result.
Liposuction can be performed as a separate operation or in combination with other aesthetic procedures – for example, together with mastopexy (breast reduction) or abdominoplasty. In addition, liposuction can also be performed in several problem areas at once.
The duration of the operation is from 1 to 3 hours, depending on the number of zones and the volume of fat removed. If you want to adjust several zones at once, the surgery will take longer.
How Much Does Liposuction Cost in Atlanta?
The price of liposuction depends on how many areas we will change and on the size of the changeable zone. For small areas it’s s about $2,000 – $2,500. For larger areas, it starts at $3,000 – $3,300.
The price is lower if you do more areas for one time because you pay for anesthesia and medications once. If we do fat transfer, there is an additional fee for this, starting from $2,500.
The cost of fat transfers varies by patient based on several factors. During your initial consultation, our team will discuss the cost of your procedure and share information about our financing options.
Liposuction can be performed as a standalone procedure for patients who have small areas of fat or combined with body contouring surgeries for the most dramatic results.
