A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure that is designed to lift, raise, and reshape breasts that have sagged or lost their perkiness. This can be caused by overly large breasts, pregnancy, breastfeeding, fluctuations in weight, aging, or genetics. A breast lift tightens up the loose skin and restores the breasts to their higher, more natural-looking position. Mastopexy does not enlarge the breasts or restore lost volume but can be combined with other breast enhancement procedures to deliver the look you desire.
Who Is A Candidate?
- You have one breast that hangs down lower than the other. A breast lift can correct issues with asymmetry;
- Your breasts are droopy or sagging and are positioned lower than their natural position. Your nipples may also point downward, falling below the crease of your breasts, and your areolas may have become enlarged;
- You are in good general health and do not have any medical conditions that would disqualify you from undergoing surgery;
- You are at or close to your ideal weight;
- You are a non-smoker;

Procedure Steps
Mastopexy surgery can be performed under local or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of correction needed, and can take anywhere from 2 to 4 hours to complete. Dr. Angelina performs breast lift surgery in Atlanta in the SurgiCare Arts & Aesthetics state-of-the-art surgery center.
Once you are comfortably under sedation, Dr. Angelina will create incisions that are commensurate with the technique used to provide the necessary correction. The placement of the incisions will depend on the type of breast lift that you choose during your consultation with Dr. Angelina.
Once the proper incision pattern has been created, any loose, excess skin will be removed, and the remaining skin is pulled up and tightened.
The areolas may be resized to fit the new breast shape, and the nipples may be moved to a more natural-looking position.
If agreed upon in advance, implants can be added to restore or add any desired volume.
Next, Dr. Angelina will lift and secure the breasts to a higher, more youthful position.
She will close the incisions with care to mitigate scarring.

Recovery from most breast lift surgeries will require you to have some help at home for the first few days, and you will need to take about a week off from work. Dr. Angelina will provide you with aftercare instructions to follow that will cover how to care for your incisions and drains (if you have them), the proper wearing of your post-surgery compression bra, lifting restrictions, and more.
It will take around six weeks for you to return to your normal schedule; however, you may have residual swelling for several months. Everyone recovers at their own rate, depending on their individual circumstances, so recovery times will vary.
Results
If you take good care of yourself after the surgery, you can expect your breast lift results to last for many years. Maintaining a steady weight, eating a healthy diet, and avoiding sun exposure will help provide long-lasting results.
Dr. Angelina recommends waiting until you are finished having children before undergoing a breast lift because becoming pregnant or breastfeeding after your surgery will change your results.
