What’s the Difference between Botox for Men and Botox for Women?

“Bro-tox” (aka Botox for men) is a very popular procedure at Surgicare Arts & Aesthetics clinics, and we often have it on special, especially during the holiday season (hint: don’t forget to check out our Specials regularly!). But is men’s Botox different from Botox for women and what should you expect from it?

What is Botox For Men?

The popular cosmetic procedure for men is Botox also known as Botulinum toxin type A (BTX-A) treatment for enhancing facial lines and restoring youthful appearance. Often, Botox injections are used to reduce facial wrinkles that are caused by:

  • aging,
  • sun exposure,
  • pollutants,
  • smoking,
  • weight fluctuation,
  • other factors.

Botox is often applied in the following areas:

  • in the corner of the eyes,
  • between the eyebrows,
  • in between the eyebrows (forehead),
  • around the mouth.

Who Is an Ideal Candidate for Botox for Men?

Botox is FDA-approved for patients who are 18 or older. But in many cases, for men in their 20s, it’s not necessary with the exception of those cases when men start aging early, and mimic or other wrinkles start showing up earlier than usual. There are no upper age limits to be an ideal candidate for Botox.

A man may not be a candidate for Botox if he suffers from a neurological disease.

Another important thing to understand is that Botox doesn’t work for all types of wrinkles, so you would need a consultation to understand whether or not Botox is a solution for you.

During a consultation, Dr. Angelina Postoev will review your medical history and expectations. You can ask any question and discuss which areas you want to be treated, and also how much Botox you need to achieve the results you want.

What Are the Benefits of Botox For Men?

Botox is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that can reduce facial wrinkles and also has other benefits, such as reducing chronic migraines, for example. And of course, it can improve self-confidence in men (just like in women) when they get a chance to look younger and refreshed.

How Long Do the Results Last in Men?

After a Botox treatment, men will see noticeable results after 3- 4 days, and in a couple of weeks they will see the final result (just like women). The result can last for 3-4 months. In some patients, it may last longer based on their individual circumstances.

There is no recovery time needed after Botox applications. However, your injector may give you some advice as to post-procedure safety practices. Normally, we do not recommend doing any type of facial massages for 24 hours after the procedure and using any kind of facial laser for two weeks after the procedure.

Side Effects of Botox in Men

Just like in women, the most common side effect of Botox is light swelling or bruising at the injection site. In some cases, patients can experience headaches or flu-like symptoms. Depending on the area treated, a droopy eyelid or eye dryness may occur.

How Much Does Botox for Men Cost?

In general, men usually need up to 25-50% more units than women because men have stronger and larger facial muscles. In the Atlanta area, a unit of Botox costs around $10-$15 per unit, so the actual price will depend on how many units you need to treat an area (or how many areas you need to treat). In the video below, you will find more information on the cost of Botox in Atlanta (not just fillers):

During a consultation, our team will share information about flexible financing options we offer to our patients.

  1. It is a very helpful tip when you said that having a botox can help your skin condition brought by smoking. My best friend is a regular smoker, and he’s been very insecure about his face recently. To keep his confidence up, I’d definitely suggest to get a botox.
