How to Prepare for a Liposuction?

Two weeks prior to the procedure you will come for a pre-op visit with Dr. Angelina Postoev. We will take photos of you “before” as well as will clarify and confirm your surgery plan, and give you pre-op instructions. Dr. Angelina Postoev recommends arranging 2-5 days off work for recovery after a liposuction. You will be also asked to quit smoking at least a week before and after the procedure. It is necessary to exclude the use of NSAIDs like aspirin and herbal supplements that can stimulate bleeding.

It’s recommended to prepare all post-op accommodations. If possible, arrange for someone to drive you to and from the surgery location and to stay with you for at least the first night following the surgery.

The Night before Surgery

Make sure to remove all body piercings (if any) and other jewelry. Wearing jewelry during surgery is not allowed as it can potentially lead to burns or scars. Take a shower on the night before surgery to remove all makeup (if any) and prepare your skin for the procedure. No moisturizers, creams, oils or other skincare products should be applied. Alternatively, you can take a shower in the morning right before the procedure.

The Morning before Surgery

Do not eat or drink anything the morning of surgery including coffee, tea, or water. Do not chew gum. If you take any medications (prescription or over the counter) on a daily basis, you should discuss it with your surgeon prior to surgery. As mentioned above, it’s important to remove all jewelry as  well as contact lenses and choose comfortable, loose clothes.
